Winter Makes Sailors

Sean Gardner produces pop songs full of simple, catchy melodies under the moniker Winter Makes Sailors. The songs are often of the slower breed, with a nod to both shoe-gaze greats and North-American folk heroes.

Sean Gardner originally started Winter Makes Sailors as a songwriting project.  So, you can catch W.M.S. as a solo act or as a live band.  When the full band is in tow, it incorporates drums (Blake Pfister or Joel Walter), bass (John Fitzgerald), keys (Kate Folmar), lap steel (Erik Kang), violin , trumpet (Jake Chandler), synth exploration, vibraphones and guitars (Brett Helling).

He has been playing in the Columbus, Ohio music scene for just over a decade and touring regionally the whole time.   In addition to the Winter Makes Sailors project, he currently shares the stage and studio with bandmates in MeltyMelty and The Receiver.   In 2010 he released records from now dissolved bands Kopaz, and Bookmobile as well as started the first official WMS record.  He stays very busy.
